I know i have posted on a few blogs that get 0 responses on average. It depends, as with all blogs, on whether I feel I have something to say.
I wonder, though, of the people who complain about getting no responses... do they bother to go read and respond to other people's blogs? None of us lives in a vacuum. It takes interaction. If all you do is sit in your house all day, with phone unplugged... or even with phone plugged in but refusing to pick it up... you're not going to have friends visiting. You have to get out there and allow the world to see you exist... then they'll start coming. just my thought.

I feel very lucky to have all the viewers and responders that i have. Even from day one. But then, i was posting to blogs a long tiem before I realized DateEtc - Dating For Ladies and Couples had given me a blog page. When i finally clicked to see what the link under my handle was... lo and behold! a blank page with 12 viewers already that day. So i decided i better get busy.

*hugs*

I try to make it out to the blogs of people that stop in and visit when I get caught up with my own blog. Sometimes it seems like I'm never caught up. Laugh, I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

Oh.. just remembered something. I had a few ppl reading my blogs then emailing me privately to comment... i said "Thanks!! why do'nt you post your reply to my blog directly?" and they said "Oh!!! i wouldn't presume... it's YOUR blog". like they feel it's intruding or something.
I did get a couple to respond that way. Though they are now still reading me daily but never replying. The funny thing is, the particular guy i'm thinking of... we met for dinner once... and when i went to leave, he said "Go home and write!" cuz i hadn't written anything for a few days. apparently it's his daily pleasure reading lol

purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (got room for another pet?)

We all started as "bottom feeders" anyone that takes themselves too seriously here is in for a BIG wakeup call! The "top of the hill" folks work hard to visit all the beautiful people here...and it is an honor to do so! Love you man! {=}

First, lean forward towards your monitor so I can plant one huge kiss on your forehead! You sir can be my Don Quixote every day!

I might only leave comments on one out of every five boards I read. Although I appreciate poetry, I've always found it very specific and personal to the author, and maybe even to the subject. I feel like a total stranger invading a conversation by commenting on those posts, so I quietly move on. Ditto for deep pinings of introspection. Unless it's someone I feel I have come to know slightly, I don't feel like it's my place. (The prolific T Gordon Liddy there is a fine example.)

In some ways, I feel the same about a lot of the erotica. I appreciate the authors' candor, but I feel like I just walked in on something private. Again I will read, but I'm not likely to leave a comment.

I have the most fun watching the recent posts column. If that one post is entertaining to me, I back up and read other entries from that board. That's how I built my most watched list, and it continues to grow.

I have commented at one time or another (in my short time here) on most of the boards on the "top ten", but not all. I have certainly left more with the three stooges than with most of the others. But that's because they generally make me laugh. Okay, sometimes they make my stomach turn. But for the most part their sophomoric pranks and tongue in cheek humor make me smile. That makes for a very open environment where anyone can leave their three cents worth. That those guys are willing to bite the bullet (for lack of a less tasteful euphemism) and laugh with the rest of us breeds a feeling like open mic night at the improv.

I love almost every comment left on my board, and out of appreciation I try to respond to every one of them. But leaving a comment with me does not lead me to reciprocate, unless I find I have something to share on that member's post. Likewise, I don't leave my comments as calling cards to come visit whatever ramblings I might have spilled on any given day. I leave comments because the author has said something that evoked a response in me.

Now climb back on that old and tired Rocinante, straighten your helmet and ready your sword. There's blogs to write, more to read, and Dulcinea awaits!

K!

Oldman - You sir are a person with your eyes wide open. There are far to many blogs and not enough time.
For those of you who think that the top listers look out only for each other..
Trav taught me something very important.. Always search out new talent. Always try to help as many new bloggers that are serious about blogging as you can. Others are really helpful with the time frame I am forced to work in and the stress it causes me because I miss some good stuff in the 2 pages of watched blogs I have.. Its all worth it.

this is a good post and I feel ya old I myself think it is way too much for me I wouldn't want to be on that list of the top blogs I feel if people want to read my stuff cool but for it to be there so they can hit me up would be too overwhelming to respong to and then this would n't be fun for me it would be a job it might be a fun job to some but a job nonetheless take care and I'll cyaroun

roaming the cyber streets of blogland

Old dude,

Sorry... It obviously takes me a lot longer to make my way around being a day ahead of the rest of you.

When I get in my damned time machine, I invariably fuck up the controls and arrive before you've written your blog post... then I have to back up again.

By the time I find your post the inside of the machine is usually covered in puke.

Still... I'm bloody glad to see you around.
