And now, for something completely different! Alright friends, finally a completely light-hearted post devoid of dramatic stories! I love music, particularly classic top 40 radio hits of the 60s-80s. However, one song that makes dread the upcoming eight minutes is ushered in with the words, "Long Long Time Ago.." . In spite of a slightly disgruntled look that appears on my face, I almost never change the station. I am still mesmerized the lyrics, even 48 after the song became a runaway hit. I listen, hoping that I missed some carefully hidden reference a musician, event, TV show, or.... |

when i hear it,i cringe for a different reason..it was the song we were made to sing in bootcamp while undergoing teargas exposure after removing masks... woop woop

Also referenced later in the song as being on the sidelines in a cast (1966 motorcycle accident) "The King". Likely Elvis -- he was referred to as the "King of Rock & Roll" even when still living. yep...i read years ago, that it was about the Day the Music Died. I feel the same about Taxi ...." it was raining hard in Frisco " have always loved that song , can hear it over n over as i think about what could have been ~~
