The Twain Of Us A Poem

I live in my head.
I am cerebral
In my bent.
Versus you
Who can
Be considered
Action oriented.

I ponder
I reflect
I wonder
If we are just
Too different.

I can try
Try to explain
Where I am coming from
Will you stand still
Long enough
To listen to my spiel?
Will you make allowances
For my lack
Of so many things?

Do you know I long
To be more like you?
To take action!
To take life by the horns!
But heretofore
I have avoided
And been denied
Opportunities
Thinking they would cost
Me too much
Or they would hurt.
Yes, I am shy
And reserved
When it comes
To some things.
But in other matters
My mind has soared!
Wanting so much more!

I guess your understanding
Is too much to ask.
Your lifestyle too fast paced.
I will be left here
Wondering
How it really is true
What they say
Oil and water
Do not mix.

But still there is
An inkling
Inside me
Chalk it up
To Rudyard Kipling
With his analogy
Of Never the twain
Shall meet
If one is East
And one is West.
Except they do
And can
Be cognizant
That differences
Can be strengths.
