Donald Trump

"Donald Trump eliminated a key position in China of epidemiologist Dr. Linda Quick who was assigned to the Chinese Disease Control Agency. She left in July just four months before the first cases of coronavirus emerged in November. She was there to monitor this very kind of disease outbreak in China. She was in a position to warn the USA in November.

Trump has systematically dismantled our Health defense systems. Several officials in charge of pandemic response. Home security adviser Tom Bossert. The National Security Council director of medical and biodefense preparedness Dr. Luciana Borio. The NSC senior director of Health Global Security and bio-defense Tim Ziemer. All either left or were fired by Trump and none of them were replaced.

Shutting down the entire global-health-security unit of the National Security Council. Eliminating the US government's $30 million Complex Crises Fund. Reducing national health spending by $15 billion.

In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure.

In the spring of 2018, the White House pushed Congress to cut funding for Obama-era disease security programs, proposing to eliminate $252 million in previously committed resources for rebuilding health systems in Ebola-ravaged Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. Under fire from both sides of the aisle, President Donald Trump dropped the proposal to eliminate Ebola funds a month later. But other White House efforts included reducing $15 billion in national health spending and cutting the global disease-fighting operational budgets of the CDC, NSC, DHS, and HHS. And the government’s $30 million Complex Crises Fund was eliminated.

In May 2018, Trump ordered the NSC’s entire global health security unit shut down, calling for reassignment of Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer and the dissolution of his team inside the agency. The month before, then-White House National Security Advisor John Bolton pressured Ziemer’s DHS counterpart, Tom Bossert, to resign along with his team. Neither the NSC nor DHS epidemic teams have been replaced. The global health section of the CDC was so drastically cut in 2018 that much of its staff was laid off and the number of countries it was working in was reduced from 49 to merely 10.

Meanwhile, throughout 2018, the U.S. Agency for International Development and its director, Mark Green, came repeatedly under fire from both the White House and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. And though Congress has so far managed to block Trump administration plans to cut the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps by 40 percent, the disease-fighting cadres have steadily eroded as retiring officers go unreplaced."

I don't know if you saw Governor Cuomo's morning update that he gives everyday but he tell the people the truth unlike Trump it's so sad. And now Trump has removed Dr. Fauci, another man that didn't agree with Trump and he's no longer in the morning updates as well. I think everyone in the Federal Government needs to take Governor Cuomo's advice.
Did you hear the interview of the lieutenant Governor from Texas talking about sacrificing the elderly for the sake of our economy. This guy is full of shit. He is so full of shit he spits brown! When he blows his nose he smells shit! Completely disingenuous. He's rich. He doesn't have to worry about getting all the medical treatment he needs if you were to contract the Coronavirus. It's the wealthy again not giving a shit about the poor. They are expendable!

Yes that would have definitely been a part of his thought process

oh my lord, trump didnt actually FIRE dr fauci, did he?
    please say that isnt true!

i made a reference to that possibility yesterday in a blog response
as an extreme example of how egotistically stupid trump can be,
valuing his image and reelection over peoples suffering and even lives
to try to enlighten trump ass-licker heathen,

but omg, did he actually DO it? i hope to hell not.
ill have to watch the "fake news" when it comes on and hope not.

meanwhile, cuomo? now theres someone a whole fucking hell of a lot
more honest than trump could even pretend to be.

theres even been recent talk of presidency. cant say i disagree.
    probably too late though.

    and speaking of late,
the only good thing that could possibly come from all this
is that if the november 2020 election date is not met, well . . .
    can you say "PRESIDENT PELOSI"?
Trump will fire anyone who doesn't bow down and give him praise for his every word. Because Trump is a sociopath. A wannabe dictator.

Keep making excuses while Trump allows more people to die unnecessarily. Because he's more worried about the stock market & his re-election than saving lives.

No I haven't been watching Cuomo's updates. I just hope the governors of each State realize not even bother listening to Trump.

Loss of life aside (a fairly major aside all the same) I wonder how much would ultimately have been saved had he had the foresight of previous incumbents to retain these positions. It seems to me that the short term view only ever serves a few.

    Hope you're well.
I don't think it would have made much difference. He would have still handled it the same way. He probably would have thought it would never even get to United States. Stay safe.

"crystal ball"?
thats what the white house pandemic response team was intended to be.

BUT trump fired them all in 2018
WITHOUT REPLACING THEM.

probably a sad politically-motivated move,
since they were appointed by obama,
but even if it was his "right" to fire them, as his minions argue,
to NOT REPLACE THEM was irresponsibly inviting disaster.

and he later blamed obama for leaving him a "broken system"
when HE was the one who BROKE it.

they undoubtedly would have warned him of the threat,
as the intelligence community was doing as early as january.

chinas help or not in this is not the issue,
its just a sad lame excuse for his inaction.
it was the dismantling of OUR help systems
that gave this virus its deadly head-start.

oh, ricks response wasnt "positive" enough for you?
ok, heres some POSITIVELY stupid things trump said
helping the virus to embed itself before "acting"
(courtesy lindoboy for researching PUBLIC records):

JAN 22: We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China.
FEB 2: We pretty much shut it down coming in from China. We're going to be fine.
FEB 24: The coronavirus is very much under control in the USA.....Stock market starting to look very good to me.
FEB 25: CDC and my administration are doing a great job of handling coronavirus
FEB 25: They have studied, they know very much. In fact they are very close to a vaccine.
FEB 28: The Democrats are politicising the coronavirus. This is their new hoax.
MAR 4: If we have thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work - some of them go to work, but they get better.
MAR 5: I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.
MAR 6: Anybody right now and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. And the tests are beautiful. They are perfect.........
MAR 6: I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.
MAR 8: We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on coronavirus.
MAR 10: It will go away. Just stay calm, it will go away.
MAR 13: ~ Declares National Emergency ~

the march 6th one is the most damning -
shows he cares more about HIS IMAGE than actual LIVES
.
